What is an LTO library pack?
A library pack is 20 LTO Ultrium data cartridges supplied in one rigid, reusable case, without the shrink-wrap, individual jewel cases or paper inserts that come with retail 5-packs. Each cartridge sits in its own cell so it is protected in transit. The case is transparent, so you can read the barcode labels without opening it.
Library packs are designed for bulk loading into autoloaders and tape libraries. Instead of unwrapping 20 cartridges one by one, you open the case, check the labels and load them straight into your library’s magazines or I/O station.
Benefits
Faster loading
No wrapping to remove from each cartridge. You save a lot of time when you are commissioning a library or loading hundreds of new tapes.
Less waste
One case replaces 20 plastic wraps, cases and inserts. That is a real reduction in packaging, and it helps with sustainability targets.
Pre-labelled
We can supply library packs with barcode labels already fitted in the sequence you choose, ready for your library.
Pre-labelled library packs
Tape libraries identify cartridges by barcode. When you order a library pack, tell us:
- Your library make and model (so we use the right label format)
- The starting barcode number and any prefix you use
- The generation suffix (e.g. L8 for LTO-8, L9 for LTO-9 — we will confirm the correct code for LTO-10) and whether you need WORM labels
We will supply the cartridges with labels fitted in sequence, ready to load.
Which generations are available?
Library packs are available for current generations, including LTO-10, LTO-9 and LTO-8, from several manufacturers. What is available varies by brand, so call 01256 331614 or use the tape configurator and mention library packs in the notes.
Tell us the generation, quantity and your barcode sequence and we will quote the same working day.
